Ornamental grasses are being discovered by gardeners around the world to be versatile partners in many garden situations. Planted in a row as seen here with Feather Reed Grass (Calamagrostis acutiflora 'Stricta') bunch grasses become an effective screen. 495-4428

Planted in a mixed shrub border a single specimen of grass such as this Blue Oat Grass - Helictotrichon semperviven becomes an effective way to weave together disparate palnts as Osmanthus and Chamaecyparis. 432-1832

Variegated grasses such as this Miscanthus sinensis'Caberet' combine effectively with roses in mixed borders helping to create a blowzy, romantic look. Design: Freeland Tanner 432-603

Combined with the grass-like Phormiums, ornamental Pampass grass (Cortaderia selloana 'Silver Stripe') can create an exotic tropical effect as seen here in entry garden at Strybing Arboretum designed by Roger Raiche. 286-1925

Mexican feather grass (Stipa tenuissima) with Coreopsis tinctoria and Verbena bonariensis creates a wonderful garden tapestry in a very naturalistic garden stryle. 495-8245
